Tisca Chopra
Tisca Chopra is a versatile actress best known for her role in Taare Zameen Par, India’s Oscar entry. She is an actress, theatre artist, author, and producer who has worked in over 45 feature films in various languages with Nagesh Kukunoor, Prakash Jha, Aamir Khan, and Anup Singh.
Tisca studied English literature at the Hindu College, University of Delhi, after graduating from Apeejay School, Noida. Tisca wrote for several publications and joined many amateur theatre groups in college. She moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in film and studied under Feroz Abbas Khan and Naseeruddin Shah.
Tisca, the grand-niece of Kushwant Singh, debuted in 15th August in 1993. Tisca, like many newcomers to the film industry, struggled to find meaty roles.
Before Taare Zameen Par, she played many small roles in films like I Love India (1993), Taqdeerwala (1995), and Karobaar: The Business of Love (2000). Her performance as Maya Awasthy, the mother of a dyslexic child, earned her a Stardust Award and Filmfare nomination. Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), The Hungry (2017), 3 Dev (2018), and Lashtam Pashtam (2018) are her other films (2018).
